You can, but many foreign visitors struggle with Chinese-only drivers, payment setup and addresses that are written differently in Chinese. For factory districts and trade fairs, a pre-booked driver is far more reliable — and your time is worth more than the difference.

Informal drivers may quote lower fares, but they usually operate without proper passenger insurance, vetted vehicles or any accountability when something goes wrong. On an important business trip that can mean safety exposure, surprise charges, or a driver who simply never shows up.
We recommend 4–8 weeks ahead for the April and October phases. MPVs and vans are the first to sell out. Ordinary business trips can usually be arranged with 24 hours notice.
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before pickup. Within 48 hours the deposit is kept; within 6 hours or no-show, the full fare is charged. Flight delays never count as a no-show.
